Sunflower photos have recently been all the rage these past couple years. One could barely scroll through their Facebook feed before finding another updated profile picture in a sunflower field.
I might be a bit behind the curve on this, but it's something that's been on my bucket list of photo sessions I've been meaning to accomplish as a model for some time.
This past September, I was finally able to check it off my list, and work out a quick session with one of my personal favorite and go-to photographers, Cardinal White Photography.
I didn't have it exactly planned out in details as far as what to wear, but figured I had plenty of options, what with owning my pinup boutique, Hollyville, and all. Although I had that option of modeling something readily available, I was also recently working on an outfit with the intentions of first showing in the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend fashion show as part of my collection, but considering it got postponed for the following year, I thought it might be an opportunity to get some decent promo photos for the collection leading into the following year for VIVA. So, I finished the outfit the night before our photoshoot.
I was very pleased with the way that it came out, and the top is based off of a vintage pattern from the 1950's. I decided I wanted a shorter coordinating front buttoned skirt to complete the look.
We went to a local sunflower field, that luckily isn't too far from either of us called Lannon Sunflower Farms in Menomonee Falls, WI.
I thought it was appropriate to accessorize with a straw hat, so I brought one that I had stocked in my shop, Hollyville from last summer. I loved them so much, that I bought one for myself, which was a good thing, because we couldn't keep them in stock for very long.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the photos, and we always have a blast getting together for a fun shoot anyways. I also got to walk away with about a half-dozen sunflowers that I could enjoy at home for the next few days.
Keep a lookout for more of this Hollyville collection to come at VIVA #24 fashion show. They will be available to purchase for the first time at the car show.
