What is the perfect finishing touch to your vintage little black cocktail dress? A pair of opera length long sheer gloves of course!
Super long evening gloves made from a stretchy mesh, a lighter version of the mesh we use for our lingerie.
Wear pulled up as high as they'll go or ruche down for a more casual daytime look.
Just like seamed stockings, gloves are often overlooked when it comes to putting together a vintage fashion ensemble. While wrist length or elbow length gloves would be worn during the day, in the evening the gloves had to be long. The longest evening gloves were named opera length gloves and our sheer long gloves are perfect for recreating that look.
LONG SHEER GLOVES, OR ELBOW LENGTH?
But what if you don't go to many evening events? In the 1950s there was a trend for 3/4 length (or bracelet) length sleeves which leave a gap between your wrist glove and the cuff. Why not ruche our long sheer gloves down, either to elbow length or even shorter to maximise the wear?
Our black long sheer gloves come in a generous one size. If you are extremely slender they might be a little too big, but you would need to be very slender indeed.
These sheer gloves are made from 80% nylon with 20% elastane, from a lightweight stretch mesh. Unstretched the top of the arm measures approximately 9" (23cm), stretching to 16" (40.5cm). The length along the side seam from tip of the little finger to top is approximately 22.5" (57cm) but please note that your arm will shorten the length a little when worn.
Our long sheer gloves are made in China. Our long satin and long sheer gloves are the only pieces we manufacture in China. While leather gloves are still made in the west China seems to be where all the fabric gloves are now made.
